Code Of Ethics

CONFIDENTIALITY

Coaches ensure that the coaching is 100% confidential between the client and the coach. It is the coach’s job to not share any information from the relationship, all information remains strictly confidential unless agreed upon otherwise by both parties. Coaches agree to withhold a clients name and personal information unless agreed upon to release it by the client.

PROFESSIONAL RESPECT FOR COACHES

Coaches will respect and honor the various approaches to coaching. Coaches will not speak poorly of other coaches or coaching schools.

PAYMENT AND AGREEMENTS

Payment and agreements are to be discussed on the first coaching session. Coaches ensure that they explain their services accurately and clarify understanding of agreement with the client.

PROFESSIONALISM WITH CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS

Coaches provide clients with respect and dignity at all times. The relationship is strictly professional. The coach must ensure that the relationship stays ethical. At all times there is to be no encountering in any sexual acts with the client.

HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION

Coaches must not discriminate or harass clients. If a conflict of interest arises the coach must refer the client to another coach.

MAINTAIN CLIENT GOAL ACHIEVEMENT

Coaches agree to work in the client’s best interest and achieve a steady rate of client goal attainment.

MISREPRESENTATION

Coaches maintain truth when speaking of their services to clients, groups, the public or the media.

RECORD MANAGEMENT

Coaches agree to maintain safe record management. Coaches agree to keep all records confidential.

MISINTERPRETATION

Coaches will agree to conduct an introduction session outlining the agreements of the coaching including any fees involved. Coaches are not to misinterpret the information about their services or fees to the client.

PLAGIARISM

Coaches agree to give proper credit to the appropriate sources when credit is due.

MAINTAINING STANDARDS

Coaches ensure they maintain the highest standards at all times within their coaching practice.

SEEING AN ATTORNEY

Coaches agree to have all of their initial contracts (such as policies and procedures) seen and read over by an experienced coach/and/or an attorney.

EXPECTATIONS

Coaches maintain realistic expectations at all times with the client in regards to what they can and can not offer within the coaching.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

A commitment to professional development including some/ or all of undertaking continuing education or additional modules, attending workshops and presentations by leading authorities, reading of trade magazines and additional articles and books, attending networking and business meetings, interviewing leading authorities, writing articles for leading trade publications, facilitating workshops and presenting, mentoring with a qualified coach, supervised coaching with a qualified coach.

SELF CARE AND BALANCE

A focus on personal self care and balance in ones personal and professional life. This may include/ some or all of adding variety to ones work, having opportunities for personal self expression, working toward a vision and realistic goals, working in a safe and enjoyable environment, having a strong sense of personal accomplishment, monitoring and managing stress, taking time to evaluate priorities, setting limits with oneself and others when appropriate, seeking counselling for personal growth and development, being an active change agent in creating an appropriate self care plan.
